Southgate: "Kate Shindle is the president of Actors' Equity Association, and I asked her what the union's been doing in this year of such few opportunities for its members."
Shindle: "We have made safety in the workplace I would say our top priority, or one of our top couple priorities. And unfortunately it's been very very difficult to reduce the risk during COVID to any kind of level that can be considered safe to work for many of those months. However, when vaccinations became more widely available that was a game-changer. And I know there are people all over the country raising concerns about vaccinations but I have quite frankly just not seen a massive hue and cry among actors and stage managers; the vast majority seem to be either already vaccinated or, like me, extremely enthusiastic about finishing the vaccination process. So that is helpful.
