No show springs fully formed from first reading to opening night. Actors challenge the authors, the director, the designers. They suggest changes that others eventually will get credit for by the likes of me.
And so with some regularity, actors will squawk, become irritants in the process and demand a bigger piece of the action in the crap shoot that is the American theater.
